The Austin Film Festival went incredibly well. We had two sold out screenings. We had to turn away around 200 people for the first screening. We felt so honored to be at the festival and we truly appreciated the opportunity to screen “Simmons on Vinyl” there.
We received some amazing reviews from critics who saw the film during the festival.
Marc Savlov of the Austin Chronicle calls the film a “realistically quirky comic gem.”
Don Lewis of gordonandthewhale.com said “SIMMONS ON VINYL is a crowd pleaser, and if it continues to be given the right kind of festival audiences, could become a cult fave.”
Jette Kernion of Slackerwood said “Simmons on Vinyl is consistently funny.” She also gives the film a great shout-out on Cinematical.
David Rodriguez of The Accent said “This is truly a guerilla film, funny and raw. Director/writer Mark Potts and writer/actor Cole Selix have produced a gem with under $400 and platinum ambition.”
Thanks again for everyone who came out to the screenings and most importantly, to those who helped us get this film made. We are truly in debt (financially and metaphorically) to our friends and family and someday, if a movie studio decides to be awesome and give us money, we might be able to pay back the financial part of that debt.
