We just received word that our newest short Follicle Frolic will be playing in the 2010 Dallas International Film Festival. This is truly an honor. Unfortunately, it is at the same time as the Atlanta Film Festival. We have to chose one to go to, so it will probably be Dallas due to money reasons (and the fact my parents freaked when I said we were driving to Atlanta, or as the cool kids say, HOT-lanta).
I am pleased to announce that our newest short film, Follicle Frolic will premier at the 2010 Atlanta Film Festival. This is a great honor for us. We’ve been trying to get into this festival for a long time so this is great. It is April 15-23 and we hope to make it there. But I think it’s like 45,000 miles or something so driving it will be tough. We were going to use our private jet, but we decided that would be a bad idea in these tough economic and environmental times. Plus we don’t have one.
You might be asking, “Hey Mark, I know you look like George Clooney, but what is Follicle Frolic?” Thank you and good question.
Follicle Frolic is a short film that was made after Brice, my room mate and art director on our new feature S&M Lawn Care, grew super long and beautiful hair. He told me I should make a short film about his hair so I did. And it is this. And it is the weirdest thing Singletree Productions has ever made.
We’re hoping it gets into hundreds of film festivals.
Get out your calendars or go buy one so you can write down this date: May 27, 2010. That is when our second feature film “Simmons on Vinyl” will play in Austin, Texas. It starts at 7:30pm at the Alamo Lake Creek It’s. free for Austin Film Festival members and $4 general public.
Also, there will be about 30 minutes of specially programmed content by us. Some of it will be old, some of it will be new, and some of it will be sexy.
It’s been a while, but we are back with the exciting first glimpse at our new feature film, S&M Lawn Care.
The film is currently in post-production right now, being edited by Don Swaynos. We are hoping to have it done this spring and playing at festivals around the world by the end of the year. That’s right: we’re taking over the world. Bad news: the world only has until 2012. That’s just enough time to get to know some rich Russians!
The Austin Film Festival went incredibly well. We had two sold out screenings. We had to turn away around 200 people for the first screening. We felt so honored to be at the festival and we truly appreciated the opportunity to screen “Simmons on Vinyl” there.
We received some amazing reviews from critics who saw the film during the festival.
Thanks again for everyone who came out to the screenings and most importantly, to those who helped us get this film made. We are truly in debt (financially and metaphorically) to our friends and family and someday, if a movie studio decides to be awesome and give us money, we might be able to pay back the financial part of that debt.
We found out that not one, not two, but THREE things we have produced will be at this year’s Austin Film Festival.
First, our screenplay A Splice of Life is a semifinalist in the screenwriting competition. Over 4000 screenplays were submitted and ours is in the top 13 comedy screenplays. We were seriously surprised when we found out. We never thought we’d be a semifinalist, let alone get far at all. We’ll find out in the coming weeks if we are finalists, so stay tuned.
Second, our second feature film, Simmons on Vinyl will be premiering at the festival.
And third, our newest short film, Edgar Freezes, will be playing in the Shorts 1 category, which is known for its odd, offbeat and completely ridiculous shorts.
More information to come!
Meanwhile, here is a photo of me at IHOP listening to the new Mika song “We Are Golden.”
I would be happy without this song playing, but with it playing, I am ecstatic. This song is snappy and peppy!
Our second feature film, “Simmons on Vinyl,” will be premiering at the 2009 Austin Film Festival!
It’s true. Even The Hollywood Reporter is saying it. That’s legit right there!
I’ll have a trailer up soon and whenever I get screening information, I’ll post it as well.
The moment you all have been waiting for is here. No need to keep chewing on those fingernails! Stop sweating with anticipation! No longer do you have to stay up all night refreshing the Internets! You can now own The Stanton Family Grave Robbery on DVD.
Made in 2006, “For the Love of Family” showed at the 2007 deadCENTER Film Festival and the 2007 Austin Film Festival. It won a Special Jury Prize at the Austin Festival that year and had a great reception.
I hope you enjoy this short. It is on IMDB, so if you want, please rank it after you watch. But, if you are going to rank it low, then you don’t have to. In fact, I suggest you just move along and not rank it because low rankings make me sad.
